Creating a little touch of seasonal yarny decor for your bathroom is now super easy with this tutorial.

Recently I completed a little bathroom decor project that I want to share with you.

It’s super quick! It only took a few minutes to make a set of 5 of these, and they’re super versatile.

I used them to add a summery feel to the pull cord in our bathroom, but they can be used to brighten up a plain lampshade or along the top or bottom of a curtain for example.

When autumn arrives I can change them again 🙂

Combined with a few craft materials and a few steps from The Yarns Lovers’ Shawl Pin eBook (you can get it here if you don’t have it), and you can make these too.

Step 1: Materials

You will need:

  • 5 x 30mm polystyrene balls
  • Laceweight yarn
  • Felt
  • 5 x 4cm wooden craft pegs
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Step 2: Making the Components

Make 5 yarn balls (as per module 1 of The Yarn Lovers’ Shawl Pin eBook) and cut out 10 leaves from the felt using the template worksheet (found in module 2).

Step 3: Construction

Glue the felt leaves to the back of the yarn ball, and the peg to the back of this. Repeat for the other 4 (or as many as you want to make).

Step 4: Decorate

Clip your completed decorations on to your bathroom pull cord (or wherever else you want to decorate).

Please share this tutorial with your friends and let us know how you got on. You can email us on or share in the comments below.

All the best,

About Me

Hi there! I’m Sam. Back in 2016 I created my first Yarn Ball Bouquet, for my wedding. It was made from lots of leftover yarns, which massively helped reduce a leftover yarn stash that had been sneakily growing. I’ve since refined the processes and now I’m sharing those so you can use up your leftovers and create some beautiful yarn ball projects too!
